Eileen's Story
Why she became a sleep consultant
I started working with children in 1999, as a behaviorial therapist and preschool aide during college. Twenty-seven years later, I'm still doing what I love. Over that time I've worked with children of every age and ability including in classrooms, IEP meetings, early intervention training, language development, and PECS (Picture, Exchange, Communication Sytem), and one on one in families' homes coaching parents through everything from communication, sleep, and routines to potty training.
When I moved to Berkeley, I was fortunate to meet a group of moms in my apartment complex. We all had our first babies within a year or two of each other, and our hot topic whenever we got together was what we were doing for sleep training and sleep deprivation. That's when I took a deep dive into sleep training.
I read every book, blog, and mom chat I could find, all for the sake of a few extra hours of sleep. Eventually my son slept really well, until my second child was born. We had to start all over again, since we had a two-bedroom apartment and both would eventually share a room. I was much more prepared the second time around, and I never stopped reading and researching.
"I'm so lucky to be in the field where I can help families one at a time and change lives for the better or at the very least help them get more sleep."
My passion has always been to work with babies and children and have been lucky to be doing that for the past 27 years.
How we work with families
Evidence-based, not trend-based
Plans are backed by science and support is adapted to your child. Every recommendation is rooted in peer-reviewed pediatric sleep research.
Flexible, family-centered methods
There's no single approach for sleep. Our consultants work with your parenting values and comfort level, so the plan feels just right.
Education over prescription
We help you understand the plan, not just follow it. You get the "why" behind each step, so you can respond with confidence.
