Pediatric Sleep Consultant
Karen Winter
Karen has over 20 years of experience working with children in various settings and has been a certified pediatric sleep consultant specializing in toddlers and preschoolers since 2021. As a mom and educator with a background in early childhood development, she understands the real challenges families face at bedtime. Karen believes that understanding creates confidence, so instead of quick fixes, she helps parents understand why sleep struggles happen and teaches children the skills to rest well on their own. She joined the Huckleberry team to help families find calmer nights and more connected days, no matter where they're starting from.
Karen's Story
Why she became a sleep consultant
For most of my career, I worked with children as an early childhood educator, teaching little ones skills of every kind and watching how they learn and grow.
Then I became a mom, and my own daughter was a tough sleeper right up until she was about two. That was the moment it clicked for me. I stopped thinking of sleep as something to fix and started seeing it for what it really is: a skill a child learns, the same way they learn everything else. And teaching skills was the thing I already knew how to do.
Once I saw it that way, I could do with sleep exactly what I'd done teaching my daughter, and my daycare kids, anything else.
That's why I love working with toddlers and preschoolers. This is the age where children are so ready to build real skills and real confidence, and helping families see what their child is truly capable of is the part of this work that lights me up most.
"I offered support, then eased it back, at a pace her development could actually handle. Little by little, she learned to rest on her own."

How we work with families
Evidence-based, not trend-based
Plans are backed by science and support is adapted to your child. Every recommendation is rooted in peer-reviewed pediatric sleep research.
Flexible, family-centered methods
There's no single approach for sleep. Our consultants work with your parenting values and comfort level, so the plan feels just right.
Education over prescription
We help you understand the plan, not just follow it. You get the "why" behind each step, so you can respond with confidence.
